Iceberg

I did it! For the first time in 4 1/2 years I was able to eat lettuce and NOT die! I am so excited! I know it sounds pathetic, but for almost 5 years I have had to avoid lettuce like the plague because I have been unable to digest any of it - even a sliver. But for some miraculous reason, I am suddenly able to digest a small amount of of the white part of Iceberg lettuce. YEAH!!!

Another Day at The

TRACK!!! HA! The President (pictured above) invited us for a day at Arlington Race Track. Drinks, food and gambling - what a way to spend the day! Those are my friends Tina (also from the ALZ Walk) and Kim. We all had an excellent time. The day was perfect, the sun was shining and at least the President won every race! Every race! I won one, which only covered the cost of my ticket for that race, but at least I ended on a high note. It is a fun day, if you are ever inclined to go. The races start at 2:00pm and it is a great way to kill the day.

Believe It or Not

Believe it or not.....there can actually be some beauty in this city. A shot I took from my cell phone of a spot just outside of Grant Park on the city's South side. A brief moment of tranquility on a busy Downtown day.

ALZ Walk 2008

Well it was miserable. Cold, torrential rain, awful. But I did it! ALL 5K!!! Last year I only made it 4 out of 5K, but this year I did the whole thing - in the rain and by myself. The rest of my team bailed due to the inclement weather. I am chilled and tired, but was able to raise over $2,000 to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Getting Better All The Time

It seems to be working. Against the odds, there are moments of peace, where Truman and Binks don't try to eat each others face off. Actually, according to the articles we have read on the Internet, and the vet we consulted, they are doing fine. They are playing, establishing dominance, and only occasionally actually trying to kill each other. But we are still cautious, they are still being monitored during every play period, and they still get alone time to relax and cool off. But as you can see, they have a few moments where they can play and rest together.

The Introduction

Well, yesterday was the introduction of Binks to Truman. Things didn't go well. Truman is the most lovey, laid back, chubby ball of love - until Binks came in the room. Then he turned into a dick. I don't know what happened. We did everything right, Binks wasn't being aggressive, but Truman went nuts. He kept attacking Binks and wouldn't stop. Then of course, Lucky had to get in on the action and attack everyone. It was so upsetting.

But today went decidedly better! We tried again this morning and although wary of each other, there was no bloodletting. Everyone was pretty civil and kept their claws to themselves. They did so well, we did a second run later in the afternoon and that went even better. They even sort of tried playing together. Good progress for a day. So good in fact, we are planning on a third try later this evening. Wish us luck!!
